The incident happened around 9:25 p.m. when the shooter Canady reached into his
pocket to get his wallet while standing in line to buy milk at the cash
register.
Canady, who Dallas police said has a Concealed Handgun
License, accidentally pulled the trigger of his Springfield .40-caliber
semi-automatic pistol. It was holstered inside his pants, a sergeant
told News 8.
The gun went off and the bullet grazed Canady's leg before it
struck the concrete floor. Shards of cement flew into the air and hit
Scinto and her 5 year old daughter, police added.
Canady tried to run from the scene after he was confronted by an
officer, read a statement released Tuesday morning by Dallas police. He
was apprehended after a short foot chase.
