Is that a huge gear in a sidewalk I see to the left?
"A woman walking on the Meridian Street Bridge
in East Boston was crushed to death this afternoon when the lift bridge
was closed on top of her as she clung to one plate and screamed for
help, according to Menino administration officials.
The incident took place around 12:21 p.m., and
is now under investigation by Boston police, who are still at the scene
at the bridge, which is also known as the Andrew McArdle bridge, that
connects East Boston to Chelsea.
