It could have been cat-astrophic.
"The Evander Square apartment building in Celebration, Florida went up in
flames on Tuesday after it was struck by lightning, and firefighters
quickly arrived on the scene. In their rescue attempts, they tried to
bring a cat to safety, but after they broke the glass the cat just
decided to jump for dear life instead.
The fire rescue deputy chief explained, "It caught a ledge as it went down running and ended up going down to the ground and was fine." Yes, somehow, unbelievably, the cat landed safely on the ground and was mostly unharmed.
A roommate of the cat's owner said the animal retained some mild burns and a jaw injury."
